I once knew a woman who was a minister and she ministered in such a powerful way. She moved profoundly in gifts of healing and gifts of knowledge. And instead of simply saying it, she would sing it and sing in a most beautiful voice. Oh, I wanted to minister like her!

But there was one huge difference between this wonderful woman and me.  She was very elegant and graceful; even in her own home she was elegant and graceful. I would  try to be elegant but I’d get my heel hung in the carpet, and the microphone chord around my leg, and I’d come back from ministering someplace and have one earring missing, or lipstick on my chin! Oh, I tried to be like her but I just wasn’t.

There are people like this woman who can inspire you and challenge your heart, but they are never to be the one who we prize to be like. The Lord didn’t want me to be like this wonderful woman; He wanted me to be like Jesus.

There’s going to be great diversity in the Body of Christ in these days. Not everyone is going to do the same thing. Everyone is to do what they are supposed to do. And when we do, we will have full power in our lives personally and as the Body of Christ.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

If you are a new creature in Christ there are good things for you to do; things He has planned for you to do! You were born with a pattern to follow for your own life. You don’t find the pattern for your life in a book or by someone else’s life. You’ll get inspiration from them, but only in Jesus you’ll find the pattern for yourself.

In identifying who Jesus is, I can find out who I really am. In His presence, I discover who I am. His presence gives definition to my life and ministry.

The presence of the Lord is a greenhouse to the plan of God that’s in your heart.
