Right from the beginning God had a plan for mankind. He engendered the course of human families not simply by suggestion or even direction but by his operation in the creation of humans – male and female.
From the same root work, genus, we get gender. In its simplest definition, gender means a type, a class of things that share certain traits. Only in recent times has the term gender been used to describe attributes that pertain to sexuality.
On the issue of marriage – male and female – Jesus referred people not to the law or what Moses had said. He referred to creation – the Genesis – where God engendered gender. God generated or brought about two genders based on how He created mankind – male and female created He them.
The fall of Adam’s race fractured and confused God’s plan for male and female. When God made man and woman, He made a perfect representation of Himself. As imagers of God, we were meant to reflect or mirror Him. Because God is invisible, His intention was for us to be His visible representatives of Him.
So, what happened to the image of God – man and woman – in the fall? Man – a reflection of God and His mirror image – fell from the glory of God and broke.
Thank God that in Christ Jesus, He went to extraordinary lengths to restore to us what He had engendered in the first place!
For he knew all about us before we were born and he destined us from the beginning to share the likeness of his Son. This means the Son is the oldest among a vast family of brothers and sisters who will become just like him. Romans 8:29 TPT
