OH COME LET US ADORE HIM
Although each and everyday provides another opportunity for the Christian to celebrate the fact that God gave Jesus to us, Christmas is a special season to reminisce this fact. The Word, being God, was always glorious. But, people werent always able to actually behold that glory until the Word became a human being. (GNB Jn1:14) The Word became flesh, and in that state, the glory could be seen, heard, and experienced by people. The glory that was exhibited in Jesus and transfigured Him on the mountain, was also practical in its effect on peoples lives. Oh, what a glorious effect!
People were able to see all the attributes, qualities, and abilities of God in the Word made flesh – Jesus. These attributes, qualities, and abilities were not merely teachings and theological presentations, but were actual realities…in the flesh! To know what the Logos, (the written Word) says; His promises, the truth of the all encompassing work of redemption, is truly a beautiful thing. Surely His word is wondrous! But even more wondrous is when that word is made flesh because in that state, people can behold His glory.
In this season, when the fact that the Word was made flesh in the form of a baby, it is important to remember that at the end of Jesus life, He ascended to Heaven in His flesh, where He is still today as our High Priest. His written word isnt meant to replace Him, but to actually lead us to and reveal Him. Jesus said in John 5:39-40, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. The result of knowing the written Word but not fellowshipping with and drawing from the Living Word, our High Priest, is that religious form will take the place of a vital glory in our life. The Word stays written form only; not becoming flesh and provides nothing glorious to behold. In this season, and every day and season, bring the written Word to the One who inspired it to be written. In prayer, take the Word to the Living Word; the Word that was made flesh. As High Priest, He will cause that Word to come alive in your heart and to be made flesh in your life so that others may behold His glory through you!
Oh, Come Let Us Adore HIM!
